Most people have the unrealistic belief that whatever they eat their body will somehow deal with it and all will be well. Unfortunately this is far from the truth. Missing a meal or eating an excess of carbohydrates can cause our bodies to respond by raising the level of the stress hormones. The body then reacts as if we were in a life threatening situation and releases stored glycogen into the blood to raise the blood sugar. If this happens on a regular basis the body's blood sugar levels will continually rise and fall and the body will be unable to maintain equilibrium.
Raised blood sugar levels result in the release of insulin to lower the blood sugar. Insulin levels will remain high if the body is consistently under nourished. If the body experiences excess insulin and in addition there is no muscular activity, the inactive muscles become insulin resistant resulting in unused calories being stored in the fat cells. If this is allowed to continue the whole body will become resistant to insulin. Weight loss is not possible if the body has become insulin resistant
The accumulation of fat around your belly is a sure sign that you have become insulin resistant. This fat accumulation will eventually reach other areas of the body and you will be come progressively more obese. As the muscles and fat cells become less sensitive to insulin, blood sugar levels will rise higher and the body will have to use the pancreas to help to lower the levels. It is worth noting that this can result in Type 11 Diabetes if the problem is not resolved.

If you eat a well balanced diet with an adequate amount of good quality protein and introduce some load bearing exercises into your routine, you will start to build lean muscle.

2. Before having your meal, about 30 minutes before, preceed your meal with an apple, raw vegetables or a salad with reduced fat dressing or preferably fresh lemon juice. Doing so will curb your appetite and give your diet a fiber boost. Remember, fiber is your best friend and can put you way ahead for easy weight loss.
3. Keep your blood sugar (and your appetite) at an even keel all day long by not going any longer than 5 hours without having something to eat. Keep celery sticks, carrots, bell pepper strips close at hand for munchies. The crispy crunch helps weight loss by giving you a psychological boost.
4. Eat multiple, healthy mini meals throughout the day rather than a few large ones. This does mean a candy bar! We are talking fruits and veggies here. Eat your veggies raw as the crunch gives you a psychological boost.
